    Produces Good Juice

This is a great centrifuge juicer & it produces good juice. If you do not mind drinking nonfiltered juice & you do not mind cleaning up a messy product, then I recommend this product.

    No Peeling or Chopping Needed
Reviewer: Anonymous       07-23-2004
I really like this juicer because it takes fruit whole. With most other juicers, you have to peel and chop the fruit ahead of time. The juice tastes much better than the kind that you buy in the store. It's fresh and has a frothy/smooth texture.

    Clean-up Time Consuming
Reviewer: Anonymous       07-01-2004
This juicer makes greeat juice, but the clean-up is awful since there are 8 separate parts to clean. If you have the time to clean up afterward, I would recommend this juicer.

    Disappointed
Reviewer: Anonymous       10-11-2004
I was very disappointed with this juicer. The first reason is that it is really big & takes up lots of counter space. Also, the pulp container does not stay in place.

    Makes Great Juice
Reviewer: Anonymous       10-14-2004
This juicer is definitely the best one I have ever owned or tried. It creates a lot of juice from the material you put in. I also like the fact that it is not too hard to clean.

    Powerful Motor
Reviewer: Anonymous       10-13-2004
This juicer has a lot of power. I have crammed whole apples, carrots, celery, radish, turnips and beets through this juicer and the motor didn't fade one bit. Since all the parts are dishwasher safe, it is easy to clean.

    Highly Recommended
Reviewer: Anonymous       06-07-2004
I love everything about this juicer. An extra plus is that the motor is actually pretty quiet. I like that you don't have to peel the fruits or veggies. I highly recommend this juicer.

    Works Great!

Although this juicer is not the easiest appliance to clean, it works great!

    Love it!
Reviewer: Anonymous       11-10-2004
I've had several juicers over the years, but this one is by far the best. You can use whole vegetables, including small apples, and its quick and easy to assemble and disassemble. The strainer cleans easily. We use this juicer twice a day & love it!

    Really Quiet
Reviewer: Anonymous       01-28-2005
This machine is really quiet & produces great juice. It is fairly easy to clean. The only part that's hard to clean is the basket. I need to hand wash it.

    Excellent product.
Reviewer: C. Lee   Idaho    08-06-2005
Love this juicer. It is very efficient and quiet. Clean up is a snap and it is not difficult to clean as some user claim. The plastic does stain from certain foods but its not visible from the outside anyway. Just make sure the fruit or vegetable is at or near peak ripeness. Over ripe fruits and veggies will not juice as well. We use this juicer everyday. I thought it would become relic in some deep dark cabinet of ours but it certainly has not. Parts are cheap, the juicer yields tremendous amounts of juice, and clean up is simple. A worthy investment for your health.

Good juicer for the price, but leaves a lot to be desired
Reviewer: "ejf302"   Baltimore, MD United States    07-15-2004
I have owned several different juicers. Given that this is a "TV" juicer (and cheaply priced) I was very skeptical. Still, with the good reviews, I thought I'd try it.

Like any product it has its pluses and minuses. So I actually have several juicers.

I'm not about to throw away my Acme juicer, but the Power Juicer has earned its place in my kitchen. The Acme costs two or three times more, and is made of stainless steel mostly. Don't get me wrong, the power juicer is pretty good, but it is almost all plastic.

It only has a 90-day warranty (except for the motor). So I don't think Jack LaLanne has a whole lot of faith in the product.

Second, the blade is thin - I'm afraid it will wear down quicly, but I could by wrong.

On the plus side though, it is convenient to have the pulp ejection. And it does seem to make more juice than some centrifugal juicers I have owned.

In addition it is great being able to put most fruits in whole, instead of having to cut them into smaller pieces.

Initially I said it was hard to clean. But now that I've gotten used to just throwing all the parts in the dishwasher, I've changed my mind. It cleans up easily.

Unfortunately most of it is plastic so it stains from the fruits and vegetables (like carrots).

Because you can't use cellulose filters, the juice is gritty (compared to the Acme 6001). The juice from the Acme is smooth with no detectable particules in it. The juice from the power juicer was noticeably gritty. But sometimes that is good - if for example you want to orange juice with some pulp to it.

I recommend this product if you are going to be a casual juicer. However I'm concerned that with daily juicing, it might not hold up like one made of mostly steel.

    Great Little Juicer
Reviewer: Ms. R.   Detroit, MI United States    07-22-2004
Not having a lot of time for juicing in the morning before work, I purchased this juicer because of the large chute feature. I like being able to juice whole pieces of fruit at one time, instead of having to cut the pieces up as with the Juiceman Jr. that I had before. This juicer IS quieter as stated in the ad. The pulp is not dry as stated. But it was a little drier than that of my former juicer. I also think the quantity and quality of juice is better. The only adjustment I had to make was in cleaning. Instead of being able to lift the whole basket/blade assembly out and clean it as one piece, as with the Juiceman Jr., this juicer comes with a tool that you use to unscrew the blade and remove it as a seperate piece from the basket. Although the bigger size of all of the pieces makes clean up a little easier, the extra step adds to cleaning time when you are on the go. I guess this is a fair exchange for not having to cut up the items to be juiced. All in all I would say that this is a good product for the money. By the way, my Juiceman Jr. was all plastic. I had it for over 8 years and it held up very well. This juicer seems to be sturdier than that one. If you buy one, get the deluxe model. The extras are very useful for a little more money.

    Overall satisfied
Reviewer: Hethra "Hethra"   Orlando, FL    05-20-2005
Geez, after reading these other reviews I'm a little worried about mine dying! Hopefully mine is not defective or anything.

I got this for Xmas '04 because I wanted to be able to make veggie juice at home. It works quite well, I haven't really had any problems with it. Been making juice 1-2times a week for the last 5 months and it's held up well. Stainless steel would be better than plastic to prevent staining of the interior but that's not really a big deal.

They say this juicer gets like 20-30% more juice than other juicers, and I don't have much to compare it to, as I've only used commercial juicers in smoothie bars, but it seems to be true. The pulp that comes out seems very dry and like there's no juice in it. I've never seen the pulp collector have so much as a drop of juice in it. So it must be pretty well designed.

Another good thing is the food chute is large enough to accommodate 3+ celery stalks, half an apple, half a beet, etc. In other words you only have the chop the apple in half before juicing, instead of into little pieces.

One other thing is the juice will tend to spatter on the counter (or on your shirt so wear an apron!), especially if you push the veggies through really quickly (ie. carrots). It doesn't spatter as much when you push them through slowly though. I hold the cup up at an angle to help catch some of the spattering too.. This isn't really a big deal for me.

Cleaning is a little bit of a pain. (But really, when is cleaning a JOY?) TIP #1: DO NOT make juice and then let it sit over night or anything. Take it apart and at least rinse it off right away, otherwise you'll have to use way too much elbow grease for comfort. In the case you do let the pulp dry and stick to it, soak it for a couple hours before attempting to scrub.

TIP #2: To clean the filter part, first wet it with water, scrub it with a soapy sponge on the inside, then on the outside, then on the inside again and it's clean. Much faster this way than trying to scrub just one side. The mesh filter will often have a few traces of carrot or whatever left in it after rinsing, so it needs to be scrubbed.

BOTTOM LINE: I recommend it unless counter space is a big deal to you. I happen to have a fairly big kitchen.

Also here is my all-time favorite juice recipe:
APPLE & SPICE: Juice 1 small apple, about 3 stalks celery, 1 small piece of ginger (about half size of your thumb), one-half to one beet, about 1/2 to 1 pound carrots, and 2-3 leaves of beet greens or swiss chard (push through with celery otherwise they dont get juiced very well). This juice is sweet & yummy, a little spicy, not to mention nutritious.

    It died!
Reviewer: Joan Sotkin   Santa Fe, NM    04-21-2005
I thought the juicer was great, until about a year after I bought it when it just stopped working. I tried contacting the company by email, but never received an answer. The phone number given on the Web site was busy all of the time. I had an Acme for almost 10 years before I decided to use the Power Juicer. That was a much better investment.

This juicer has changed my life!!!!
Reviewer: Wisconsinjuicer "M"   Green Bay, WI    04-21-2005
I can't speak for everyone else, as they seem to be so negative. I have had my juicer for almost three years. I use it 3 times a day and juice everything from raw asparagus, broccoli and carrots to apples, plums and pears. I have thrown everything in this thing and it tackles it like a pro. After use it goes into the dishwasher about twice a day. The only thing is that the blue plastic parts (the pusher and the pulp collector) warped slightly, but these are easily hand-washed. I have lost over 40 pounds in the last 6 months and I can't believe how much juice I get out of this thing. I threw 12 sprigs of asparagus in there and got nearly a full glass. I'm sorry for those others who have not had success with it. Frankly, if my motor gave out at this point, I would simply buy another one as I feel I have gotten a hundred times it's worth out of it in the last two years. Instructions do need to be followed, though. Very hard seeds such as peach seeds, plum seeds and the stems of grapes should be removed. This can hurt the blade and motor. Small price to pay for this awesome machine!!!!! I love it!!!!!!

Good Product ... TERRRRRRRIBLE Customer Service!!!!!!

My husband used this product for less than a month, It worked great during that time but toward the end the motor DIED! We calleD TriStar products and they said we would receive a replacement motor in 7-10 business days. It took a month to receive the motor and after we received the replacement motor, it wouldnt give power. It was defective. I called again for another replacement and am still waiting. All in all within the last 3 months we have only had use of this product for 20 days!

WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love the juicer but the machine broke after 3 months
Reviewer: John Dibble   Riverside CA USA    02-23-2005
I love the juice that comes out of this machine but the warranty is very poor. I received mine as a christmas gift and this morning Feb 23rd it broke. (Making grapfruit juice.) Of course, you don't look at the warranty until something breaks. Here is the deal.
First the machine only has a 90 day warranty. To use the warranty you have to ship the juicer to them with a check for $19.99 for the return shipping. There is telephone number you can call to check on the status or any estimated turn around time.

From my perspective, my having to pay the round trip shipping because of their poor product quality does not seem fair.

    good concept but breaks down
Reviewer: jellybean   new york    02-17-2005
after only a week of use the motor simply died. put in a call to tristar who admited they were having problems with the motor. they offered to replace the unit but after reading some of the reviews in amazon, i decided to return the entire unit for a refund. don't want to deal with delays and refurbished motors that may break down again. will go back to mr juiceman instead.

    Great Product--Horrible Back-up
Reviewer: George Thesaint "gt"   AZ    02-16-2005
The only reason I purchased the Power Juicer was because of the respect and admiration I have for Jack. (I was stationed in NYC at the time he pulled a tugboat with a rope in his teeth.)
After nine months of use, the motor went bad, and I returned it to TriStar Products in Wallingford, CT for replacement or repair. That was Dec 6, 2004. Today is February 16th, and I have yet to receive my replacement despite no less than one letter and 6 phone calls to them.
Appears their manufacturer is not producing the parts they need.

    Degradation and Burnout
Reviewer: George Thesaint "gt"   San Diego, CA    02-16-2005
My wife and I received one of these units from her parents as a housewarming gift. My first impression was that it seemed very sturdy, very trust worthy. For the first two months or so, we juiced every day with great satisfaction. One day, however, we tried making a very large batch, and got a good deal of pulp in our juice. We stopped and cleaned the juicer, but every day after continued to get a small amount of pulp in the juice. The juicer would tend to off balance and vibrate as well. We changed blades, but to no effect.

Last week, my wife tried turning on the unit and got only a humming noise, no spinning blades. She took it apart, and there are no blockages. Possibly motor failure. It's past the sparce 90 day warranty. It looks like our next juicer will be the Breville.

    Much better than juiceman jr
Reviewer: E. Hans "neat freak"   Pensacola, FL USA    01-28-2005
I had previously owned a juiceman jr before purchasing the power juicer. I forgot it when I moved so I decided to purchase a new one. I had heard good things about the power juicer so my husband and I decided to purchase it. We weren't disappointed. It is much quieter than the juiceman jr and you do get much more juice. It is fairly easy to clean. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is that the basket is really hard to get clean. I usually put the rest of the pieces in the dishwasher but have to handwash the basket. Otherwise it's great for the price.

Pretty good among centrifugal types, but pulp isn't dry
Reviewer: Ms. R.   Houston, TX    07-13-2004
Compared to Juiceman Jr. (costs about $60) and JuiceLady I've had, this juicer is the best (and about twice as expensive as the cheaper Juiceman). It is true that you can put large pieces of food to juice without cutting them up. It is also true that it's pretty quiet, but don't make a mistake about it -- it will wake up someone sleeping nearby. It's not very quiet; just quieter than the other juicers.
There is something, though, about which I disagree with TV salespeople. They (and someone who has commented here) said that the pulp is very dry. I didn't find this to be true. It is about the same as that from the juicers I mentioned earlier. I can easily squeeze more juice from the pulp with a slight effort. This is not dry to me, and definitely not VERY dry. And how could it have been considering that it uses the same principle (centrifugal force) as the other juicers? There's nothing unique about this juicer besides large chute. When I want to get another juicer, I will try a Green Life juicer. It uses a totally new principle to extract juice, and it is also said to produce dry pulp. But that would have to be confirmed first. And it's designed to juice leafy vegetables very well.

    ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!
Reviewer: "jungle2japan"   Los Angeles, CA United States    06-06-2004
the previous reviewer has obviously never owned a juicer before if they're calling THIS juicer hard to clean....yes it's a juicer, so there's going to be pulp and seeds that you need to clean out. but it doesn't have to be a chore, and unlike other juicers i've owned, you can actually make several juiced drinks before filling up the pulp ejector.
i love the size...i am in a place where they have those HUUUUGE carrots...i chop off the tops, and put 'em in whole....fabulous!

i can't say enough about it, except to say i'm ordering this for a friend of mine as a gift.

good juicer but a pain to clean
Reviewer: A Home & Garden enthusiast       05-09-2004
I love the fresh taste of the juice. It does a great job of that although this is my first juicer and I don't have anything to compare it to. However, its kind of a pain to get clean. I rinsed everything off and put it in my dishwasher. The fine screen didn't get very clean. I don't know what to do with that. The recipe book that came with it wasn't very informative about what the recipe will do. You have to guess according to the title of the recipe. I did like it when I forgot to remove the label from an apple that the label was in one piece in the pulp receptacle. It does a great job of juicing , the pulp that is left is very dry. It's initial purpose is completed well.

    A good idea; messy clean-up
Reviewer: Anonymous       03-07-2006
My mom bought this years ago (when I still lived with her). It was fun to use and the juice it made was great; but it made a huge mess and no one ever wanted to clean it up because it was so time consuming. We used it less and less, and it didnt take long to quit using it. Oh well.
