    Awful!

Doesn't work very well and now smells like something is burning inside! Stay away from this junk!

not nearly as powerful as the ads claim
Reviewer: Anonymous       12-17-2002
I have two cats in a small apartment. Without any attachments, this machine does a poor/fair job of sweeping kitty litter off the floor. With the floor attachment, it can't do it at all. I clean the filter regularly (which is admittedly very easy to do) and keep all hoses, connections etc etc completely clean (yes I check every time). This means that if there is kitty litter on the floor, I need to get on my hands and knees and sweep it up without any attachments - w/ something that covers the size of a silver dollar. As you can imagine, it is not long before I just use the old fashioned broom. The floor attachment is very ineffective - so those of you who are complaining that you can't figure out how to buy one...don't bother - you will find that you rarely use it. Anyone in the market for a small cleaner should avoid this if they are looking to use it for anything other than dust. It is not even strong enough to clean up a granule of kitty litter.

    Hot Turbo

Was a 4-5 star performer for 9 months. It always ran a bit hot and finally burnt out. I could find no reference to the warranty period. Must be a disposable item.

    floor attachment????
Reviewer: "liasoul"   Boston, MA USA    07-18-2002
It's a powerful machine and it works great!!! I have two dogs and even the hairs are gone with this machine. BUT! the problem is it does not come with the floor attachment(the long one which seems to be an optional) ... I can not get the attachment only from any place else and there's no way that I'll buy another one. It's a pain to sit on the floor and clean the whole house. can you imagine? ...

It cleaned... and filled the air with a burnt rubber smell
Reviewer: Dressi "K N D"   Gainesville, Ga United States    07-09-2002
It stinks!... litterally. From my standpoint as a college student, this vacuum cleaner seemed like the best thing to come around, light, very usable, interchangable and very powerful. It's a little loud for its size but it is a vacuum. My mother got the same vacuum and just loved it. Though i don't see her using it anymore. She one of those small upright durtdevils more often now. I never used it in my dorm hardly at all. It sat in a drawer in it's 20 sum-odd pieces for a while. When we did use it the thing gave off a horrible smell of burnt rubber. Most vacs have a rubber belt running from the motor to the spinning brush, but this doesn't have one of those. We eventually found out why... it was burning dust! Dust had gotten around, under, over or through the filter in some way that it was burning in the motor. We secured the filter again but there was no way around it, the thing leaked... and don't even try to get up something like Kool-aid... that makes it through the filter too... and it wasn't a bad filter either, well it was a bad filter but there wasn't anything wrong with it as far as it was concerned.
It was very powerful though. Being in a dorm room i don't have a mop and bucket and this thing would fill in nicely. It would suck my cheap tile floor dry! It smelled like burning dust but the thing was dry, it cleaned the dust from my keyboard, PC, got a bunch of junk out of my carpet... though you did have to watch it. If you hit it a little too hard the filter comes loose and starts to spray dust everywhere. So i only used it when we had the window and door open with all the fans turning the room into a wind tunnel... gets the smell out too. So buy at your own risk... try it out... i may have had a defective model but others have made similar complaints.

    Piece of Junk

This 'thing' didnt last more than 2 months from the time we bought it! the floor attachment was just garbage! It sparks and just completely died for no reason!!

    A pretty good buy
Reviewer: Jasper   Philadelphia, PA    02-26-2002
For the money I think it's a great buy. The problem that the other customer experience might be due to not properly attaching the filter. It could have also been due to the wrong voltage. This company makes both 110 and 220 volt models. The 220 volt models are for export. I myself have used mine quite a lot. Sometime for thirty minutes at a time with no problem. It great when it comes to picking up cat hair. It's also great for those who live in cramped houses or apartments. The only problem is emptying it. Other than that I recommend it strongly!

     good product...poor service from maker
Reviewer: Pam   Auburn, MA United States    02-22-2002
We used the turbo tiger for 1 week (liked it very much) and then the flexible hose broke in half. So I ordered a new one (no charge) from tristar, the maker. I had to wait three weeks for it to arrive. It was the wrong hose, so I called tristar again and they sent me another, well I got the wrong one again. I gave them one more chance and they again, sent the wrong one. After 9 weeks having a new vacuum and not being able to use it. I decided to send it back. It's been three weeks since my return and I have not gotten a refund. This company has some serious customer service issues.

    garbage
Reviewer: Carol Lee Dinardo   Charleroi, PA United States    02-15-2002
Do not buy this piece of junk. I have hardly used it and now I won't be using it anymore. The little tiny plastic node that holds the front of the vacuum on decided to just break even though I had not tried to take it off to clean the thing. I was walking through the house with it when the front just dropped off. I thought it just had worked itself loose until I tried to put it back on and that is when I found that half of the plastic node had broken off. How long it had been like that I have no idea. Buy another kind or you can have my broken one.

    customer service problems
Reviewer: Anonymous       02-05-2002
Tri star lists a customer service number 800-558-2772 which for some unknown reason forwards to my business phone. I hear complaint after complaint. When I call Tristar to get them to stop call forwarding to my business number, they thus far have not done so (a barometer of their customer service). The calls often involve not receiving the product after paying for it.

    Not a good experience
Reviewer: Anonymous       02-03-2002
I purchased the Tristar TTV Turbo Tiger for my husband for his pickup. Before he used it, I used it two times for light dusting in the house and on my computer for about 5 minutes each time.. It burned up! I could have worked in the dark for the sparks it put out before it bit the dust. Bad buy, bad joke even...Wasted money. Find another type of brand, this ain't worth it.

    nice, simple, easy to use
Reviewer: Pam   Auburn, MA United States    12-27-2001
I bought this for my 3 yr old becuase he loves to vacuum and the toy models were not enough to satisfy his need to vacuum the house. It's powerful, lightweight, easy to use, great for stairs, easy to empty the dirt, nice long cord, I bought it direct from the manufacturer because they sell it with all the attachments ...

    Optional Equipment
Reviewer: Marty   Johnstown, PA    10-15-2001
This is for Dugga who could not find the optional equipment. We called 800-558-0420 to order the attachments needed. Hope this helps~
Turbo Tiger is very powerful.

Tristar TTV Turbo Tiger Hand Vacuum
Reviewer: "dugaa"   Brea, CA United States    10-09-2001
Looks like a very good product to me. It has two problems that downgrade it from 5 stars to 1 star. It needs the optional equipment so it can be used to its maximum potential. The optional equipment consists of a floor head and stiff wand sections. I have been unable to figure out how to order the optional goodies and no one at Tristar or Amazon will talk to me. So this is an area where there is a total lack of service to the customer. It is really a shame. Someone has come up with a very good, though incomplete product, and the marketing folks have totally dropped the ball. Tristar should be called off because of a lack of interest on the part of Tristar.

     Need for additional attachment
Reviewer: Anonymous       09-29-2001
I just purchased the Turbo Tiger and am very impressed.
I would like to order the Extension Attachment. Having this would make it so much easier than using my upright since the weight of this item is so much easier to handle.
Please advise how I can order this attachment.

    Great little vacuum
Reviewer: Anonymous       09-18-2001
I purchased this item primarily to pick up animal fur on the stairs. With two cats and a dog, it was really starting to pile up - and my upright vac was not doing the trick. I had read some pretty poor reviews on a lot of hand-helds with regards to suction power on pet hair, so I was very pleasantly surprised at the amount of hair this was able to pick up. Although it would be nice if it were cordless, the cord was long enough to reach from the bottom to the top of my stairs. It is also great for those smaller jobs, too.
