RAISED AEROBED
Description: The Raised AeroBed is a Queen size mattress with all the comforts of an AeroBed and the height of a regular bed. It's ready to use in 3 minutes or less with a simple touch of a button.
Reviews (52):
Buyer Beware! Reviewer: TOM 07-17-2004 This was a total waste of money. The bed leaked after I used it only twice!

Love it! Reviewer: Anonymous 06-26-2004 I really like the fact that you can use standard sheets on this bed. I used this bed for my mother-in-law's visit. She is 80 & would not have been able to get down on a mattress on floor level. She reported a comfortable night's sleep! Setting up the bed & collapsing it are also easy. I love this bed!

Highly Recommended Reviewer: Anonymous 03-11-2002 This bed is very well constructed & is comfortable and easy to store. It's also easy to inflate & it inflates fast. Just touch a button and the bed adjusts to your specific comfort needs. Because of my large size (6 feet tall and 280 pounds) I thought the bed might not hold up well or be comfortable, but I found the AeroBed very comfortable & durable. I would highly recommend this bed!

Great Bed Reviewer: Anonymous 01-28-2002 My only complaint about this neat bed is that it is a little hard to get in & out of. This would be especially true for older people. Otherwise it is great. it is easy to inflate & deflate & comes with a neat bag for storage.

A Bit Lumpy Reviewer: Anonymous 08-31-2001 My only 2 complaints with this mattress are (1) that is a bit lumpy & (2)that it is not firm enough.

Send your guests to a Motel instead Reviewer: Anonymous 12-02-2000 The real problem is that the bed itself is plastic, and no amount of covering will change the fact that you are sleeping on a synthetic bed. I have to admit that it is easy to inflate & deflate. But for a good night's sleep, send your guests to a motel!

Like Sleeping On A Big Pillow Reviewer: Anonymous 12-03-2000 This bed is easy to set up & comfortable! It feels like sleeping on a big pillow!

Very Uncomfortable Reviewer: Anonymous 02-16-2001 I found this bed very uncomfortable! I also found it a real hassle to inflate & deflate (unlike how easy it looks in the commercial). It weighs a lot so it's not easy to transport.

Generally Good Reviewer: Anonymous 04-12-2001 I generally really like this bed. The only down side is it made horrific sounds as I moved - sort of like someone jumping on a pool toy and squooshing linens into it. Not pretty!

Not Recommended Reviewer: Anonymous 01-01-2000 The worst thing about this bed is the cheap quality of its parts. After using it only two times, the hinge on the air release valve completely broke off, which made the bed totally unusable.
It was under warranty, but I didn't think it was worth it to pay the shipping charges & send it back. It is definitely not worth the trouble and expense.

No Good! Reviewer: Anonymous 06-17-2001 Here are a few things I did not like about this mattress: During the night it loses some of its firmness. The plastic squeaks as you get on it and if you move around. It's really costly. For a tall person it is too short!

I Like It! Reviewer: Anonymous 01-02-2002 This mattress feels solid & does not slip around on the floor. It holds fitted sheets on the corners. And it is comfortable enough. It has even stood up to my cats, who have ruined cheaper air mattresses.

Great As An Extra Bed Reviewer: Anonymous 12-23-2003 I would recommend the Aerobed for anyone needing an extra bed for themselves or for children or teenage houseguests.

Only Used it Once! Reviewer: Anonymous 11-22-2001 With both my wife and I on the bed it was very unstable and both of us felt as if we would fall off the bed. Needless to say, after one use we deflated the bed and have not used it since.

Works Well Reviewer: Anonymous 08-31-2004 If you need a quick, easy, movable bed this is it.
It may be too small for those who are tall or heavy. But for people of average size it works well.

It Leaks Reviewer: Anonymous 11-17-2003 Once it starts to leak, you can't really stop it. Also, you cannot completely trust what company prmoises like it's not going to leak. It's bound to happen because I saw one that did even after replacing parts that usually cause problems.

Not Recommended Reviewer: Anonymous 01-24-2000 This bed is useful in certain situations. It's not comfortable enough for everyday use, but it would be OK for guests. My bed got many holes in it after only a few uses. The customer service was poor & the bed is too heavy to lug on a camping trip. I would not recommend it.

I Love It! Reviewer: Anonymous 08-06-2000 I use this bed as my everyday bed. It was recommended by my chiropractor because of my back problems. It is the most comfortable mattress I have ever slept on. It inflates and deflates in seconds and keeps its shape indefinitely, as far as I can tell. I love this bed!

Recommend with some reservations Reviewer: Anonymous 10-03-2003 I use the bed as my everyday bed. The problem I have is this. When you sleep on one side of the bed for a while, it goes a bit flat and the other side raises up. You have to change sides for a while to get the bed to even out. I have also had two little holes appear in the middle of the bed. I have patched these & they seem to be holding up OK.

Great Sleeping! Reviewer: Anonymous 01-17-2003 I am 6'2' and 240. It has been an everyday mattress for me and I have had great sleep on it.

Great! Reviewer: Anonymous 08-13-2001 A cotton cover over the bed's surface of "comfort coils" makes the AeroBed feel more like an innerspring mattress and less like a glorified swimming pool raft. Provided you don't set the thing up on a bed of nails or a pile of broken glass, the AeroBed should last for years. I think it's great!

Prefer it to my own bed Reviewer: Anonymous 04-19-2002 To me, the raised aerobed is more comfortable than my regular bed. It is so easy to inflate/deflate and I've had no problem getting it back into the storage bag. We bought this mattress mainly for overnight guests to use, but I really do prefer it to my own bed!

A Great Bed Reviewer: Anonymous 12-01-2000 I use an Aerobed as my permanent bed because it’s better than a regular mattress and it’s not filled with billions of mattress mites! It takes about a minute to inflate, just plug it in and go. This is truly a great bed!

It's Delicate Reviewer: Anonymous 12-29-2001 Unfortunately, this product is very delicate. After only a week of use, my Aerobed began to leak. I used the supplied patch kit to repair it, and so far after two months I've not had any additional leaks. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Comfortable & Sturdy Reviewer: Anonymous 08-08-2002 I have used the bed for 6 months as my everyday bed & I love it! It is comfortable & seems very sturdy.

Poor Quality Construction Reviewer: Anonymous 10-27-2002 I have had 2 of these & both have failed to hold the air in. In the first case I was sent a replacement bed. Currently the second bed is leaking very fast. There is no reason for it to have problems except for poor quality construction.

I like It Reviewer: Anonymous 12-14-2000 I slept on an aerobed every night for about two months, and only had to add air a few times. Two complaints are that the motor is noisy & the bed tends to be cold.

Great for backs Reviewer: Anonymous 00-03-2020 This bed is easy to assemble, comfortable & portable. Best of all it is great for my back. I have a long history of beds causing me back aches, but the Aerobed is great for my back. After 3 months, I still wake up every morning with not a pain to be found.

Great for Allergies Reviewer: Anonymous 06-14-2001 This bed is great if you have allergies. Becuase it is made of plastic, it does not house any allergens.

No problems with it Reviewer: Anonymous 05-28-2001 This is a great bed! I have had many people, including myself, sleep on it & it is really comfortable. I have had no problems with leaks or any other problems.

Buyer Beware! Reviewer: Anonymous 12-13-2004 This was a total waste of money. The bed leaked after I used it only twice!

Like sleeping in a Bouncy House at the carnival. Avoid! Reviewer: Anonymous 03-27-2003 In short: Unstable, flimsy, and cheap feeling. I returned it after only 1 day.
I bought this bed to use for my first apartment because I thought it would be great and the price was right. I liked the commercials and was eager to get it inflated but once I did I was quickly dissappointed.
First the bed felt flimsy. I remember looking at it thinking "This is $250?? It looks like a $30 rubber bed". Then when I sat on it I felt like I was going to fall off. They have stabalizers on the sides of the bed but they're too little to do any good, and theyre ugly. You can see them peeking out on the sides after you've put your sheets on.
Theres no real support so I knew I'd be waking up with a sore back. The worst part was that I envisioned myself apologizing to guests for offering it to them to sleep on.
I'd be so embarrassed to have a guest sleep on that thing in my home, imagining them rolling off of it.
I returned it the next say and called 1-800mattress. For $60 more than the Aerobed, I got an entry level double bed with a real bed mattress, box spring and frame delivered the next day. One that guests will feel comfortable to sleep on and I would feel comfortable to offer them.
Its a shame because I love the idea of the Aerobed and wanted it to work, but it has a long way to go before it becomes anything that an adult would want to sleep on.

The "Deflatable" AeroBed Reviewer: O. Bethea Landover, MD 06-22-2004 Two weeks after I purchased this product, a leak developed along one of the seams; I patched it. Several weeks thereafter, it sprang another leak; I patched that one. A month or so after that, a couple of holes developed along the seams. (All of the holes and leaks were along the seams.) It now has a slow leak somewhere that I'm unable to find. Given the poor quality of the product, it is NOT worth $50 let alone the MSRP of $300. The Aero Bed company's "corrective" policies when dealing with such matters only adds insult to injury.

Very Embarrased Reviewer: Anonymous 03-12-2004 We bought this bed right before last Christmas to use as a guest bed for some family that stayed with us during the holiday. We set it up Christmas Eve for its first use, which was very comfortable initially. The next morning we came down stairs to find our guests sleeping on the couch because the bed deflated almost 1/2 of the way. I was very embarrassed to say the least and felt terrible that their overnight stay at my house wasn't a restful one. Needless to say, we packed the bed up and had it shipped back to the company for a refund.
After reading the other reviews of folks who had similar problems with the bed as I did, I would not recommend taking your chances on this bed.

Sweet Dreams Reviewer: Anonymous 03-06-2004 I have always purchased product from Areobed. I trust the quality and durability of their product. That makes it easy for me to purchase on line. I do not have to see or feel the product. Just make sure the size and style is what I am looking for.
This bed was easy to inflate. You can change the amount of air according to your comfort level. If it is completely filled it WILL keep its shape. When my house quest left the bed deflated quickly and I was able to get it back into the storage bag with no hassel.
I trust the dimensions they provide. You don't have to buy special sheets, blankets etc.
Great value and quality.

So far so good Reviewer: Anonymous 02-21-2004 I bought one of these as a temp solution to not having a bed, well its been over a year, I have slept on it every night. I've had guests use it and they all love it. Even my step father who is 6 foot 5 300lbs.It keeps its firmness pretty well. The one thing that did happen was that it has grown a bit. The original pad that came with it no longer gets close to fitting it, I now fit it with king size sheets. But besides that I've been happy with it so far.

Handy but doesn't hold up very well Reviewer: panjack Los Angeles 12-13-2003 On my second areobed in 6 months. They are very handy and our kids love to sleep on it just for a change from the usual routine.
But both areobeds we've had quickly developed leaks. This is with the average user (my two kids 5 and 10) being a very small percentage of the alleged max weight.
Given the price paid for the bed I expected it to last far longer.

House guest love it Reviewer: Anonymous 11-20-2003 I have always purchased good quality product from this company. From camping to this queen bed for house guest - I trust the construction and life of the product. The company stands behind their warranty as well. This means a lot to me in this day and age.
--It's easy to inflate and keeps its shape even after 4 -5 days. Even my kids can do this project.
--You can fill the bed to fit your comfort level and this is a real full size queen mattress. Queen size sheets and blankets fit it perfectly. So no special sizes are required.
--It comes with the easy storage bag. You can store and take anywhere.

excellent spare bed Reviewer: Anonymous 11-18-2003 I was very happy with my new raised aero bed. I have already used it twice. My son was pleased with it.My daughter and son in law really liked it and would like one of their own for Xmas. Both the boys are big guys and had no problem sleeping on it. I am highly satisfied.

Useful but does not last long Reviewer: Anonymous 11-12-2003 We used this item a total of about ten times over a period of eighteen months. With every use we noticed that the a significant degradation in the ability of the bed to retain the air. It was great the first few times we used it but is now completely useless (about to be tossed out).

The Bed That Grew Reviewer: Gregg Stokes New York State 09-03-2003 Purchased this product because of a narrow doorway; figured this was perfect solution. I was wrong...This product does not stand up to continued use. After 1 month the sheets would not fit properly. After 2 months it was a struggle to keep them on the bed. After 3 months, gave up and bought tradtional Split-King which could be folded and fit into room. We tried different inflations to no avail (yes, we were under the max weight). The plastic stretched, flattening the shape of the bed. It grew almost daily. In the end it was 2+ inches bigger than when first inflated. Again, we tried to adjust pressure, but it did not help. It was comfortable, but sadly did not stand up to contiued use. Guess it is meant for temporary use, but this is not stated anywhere.

Good While it Lasted Reviewer: lrkm Southfield, MI 08-29-2003 My queen-sized raised aerobed was great for the two years that it lasted.
After two years of non-strenuous use (once every three months or so), the mattress is no longer usable. The seams on the bottom sort of "popped" on one side and now the mattress is lopsided. I called the company and since the mattress has a one year warranty their only solution was to send me a new one for [additional monies]. No thanks.

Caveat emptor Reviewer: Mark Huddleson Eureka, CA 07-14-2003 I bought the queen-sized pillowtop Aerobed at Costco last April, as I have some pretty major back problems. I immediately thought I had found "the" solution, as I have tried just about every thing else.
After about two weeks, the bed split on the side seam. Mind you, I weigh about 220, but the bed claimed it could support 900 or so pounds. I patched the bed with the included patch kit. The very next day, the same thing happened at the same seam, just a bit further down. I patched it again.
Then, these little holes began to appear on the top of the mattress right where the seams are. I ended up using all the patching material, so I took it back to Costco and got an exchange.
Two weeks later, the SAME THING started happening: little holes in the top of the bed and another side seam came undone. I patched until I ran of patching material.
I took the second Aerobed back to Costco and they gave me another one.
Two weeks later, the same thing happened. I have already patched two holes on the side (same place as the other two) and now I am getting the same little holes on the top.
I go to Costco once a month to get groceries, and I hope that my Aerobed holds out long enough between trips. I don't know how long Costco will keep making exchanges for me. I wish I could afford a Tempurpedic.
My recommendation: stay away from Aerobeds...you will only feel frustrated and angry at this is a terrible shoddy product.

Not as good as adverised! Reviewer: Anonymous 05-24-2003 This bed may be good for occassional use otherwise be prepared to pump air everytime you sleep on it as little air keeps on leaking all the time.

Great Product Reviewer: Anonymous 04-24-2003 Easy to use- sets up quickly. Very comfortable. Deflates quickly.Extremely handy to have for guests. And it actually fits in the storage bag.

Over-all we've been pleased with the purchase Reviewer: Anonymous 04-16-2003 We purchased the raised Aero Bed so that we would not have to ship a matress&boxspring across country. We got it as a temporary fix but have used it as our only bed for almost two years. We have cats and they have occasionally pierced the bed but with some patience, these are easy to find and fix. Harderto find have been the cracks in the joints and seams. Over our two years we have collected 6 of them - 4 have been in one particulary weak spot and all 6 of them have appeared in the last 2 months as our local weather pattern has had some extreme changes.
On the plus side, it is the most comfortable bed I have ever had, it is easy to transport, we have had no problems with needing adapters or the blower or any of the valves, and we have gotten more than we expected for the product. I would buy another one and I would recommend it overall.

Doesn't last Reviewer: Anonymous 04-06-2003 Within 6 months of purchase, center seam failed causing huge bulge in center of mattress, making bed totally unusable. E-mail to company explaining problem and asking for return authorization resulted in them telling me to call their Customer Service instead. Am still awaiting return authorization paperwork!

VERY comfortable, easily inflatable...and warrenty honored! Reviewer: Joel L. Gandelman San Diego, CA 06-13-2002 Is the raised Aerobed as good as its many t.v. commercials suggest? I have to differ with some of the other reviews I've read on it here: I love it -- and recently discovered that the company not only honors its warrenty, but goes out of its way to do so.
Some time ago I bought a twin raised Aerobed as a sorely-needed gift for Greg, then 9, who was then staying at my house with his father and sister. Greg is into mechanical things so I let him set it up...and it was JUST as easy to do as in the commercial. He just plugged it in, clicked the little plastic stopper latch, pushed a button and within minutes the bed was completely filled. We didn't order any special linens so we made the bed with standard sheets, etc. He LOVED it. I also have two cats who jumped on it...if you recall the commercials show a tiger going on it (to show its durability).
YES...it did eventually uninflate. I completely forgot about the warrenty and called Aerobed's customer service to tell them strictly as feedback that their product didn't last more than a year and that I felt shortchanged. I did NOT expect a refund or replacement and wasn't even asking them for it. The operator asked me if I had a receipt, and I said no. She then asked for my phone number and traced my purchase through their computer. She told me it was under warrenty and told me the easy procedure to get a new one. It arrived in a little over two weeks.
FEW companies are as diligent as this in honoring their warrenties (and, no I am not connected with them...check my reviewer's profile and you will see that I am a ventriloquist).
Here's why I like the Aeorbed:
--It's easy to inflate. You can change the amount of air according to your comfort level. If it is completely filled it WILL keep its shape.
--Even a child can inflate and uninflate it.
--It does come with the easy storage bag. You can take it anywhere.
--Construction is very solid. The leaks in ours seemed more in the latch than in the mattress, but if there is a mattress leak it can be duct taped.
--When it's fully blown up it is actually a bit higher than a normal bed. And it is a REAL BED.
--Very easy to use linens on this. You don't have to buy special sheets, blankets etc.
--This company clearly stands by its product and is ready to honor its warrenty (to save customers and them time/hassle if your bed doesn't work they have you cut a key part of it off and send it back to them, then they send you the new bed, instead of having to send the whole thing back).
Would I buy another? In an INSTANT. If I needed one this is a product that does live up to its commercial -- and is made by a company that stands by its product and its warrenty.

Prone to leaks, does not maintain shape Reviewer: Enrique P. Pineda Lawrenceville, GA 05-22-2002 I've had mine for eight months now, slept on it daily for six of those. Within a couple of weeks, leaks would spring from holes that burst from one of the two stabliizer bars that protrude from either side of the bed. It appears that these are the weak points of the product. The seams that join the stabilizer bar to the bed tend to burst, probably caused from shifting your weight towards one end of the bed. The manual specifically tells you not to sit at the edge of the bed, but I suspect just climbing onto the bed and getting off is when the bed gets most of its stress. Or, if you are a restless sleeper like me, tossing and turning frequently, this could also exceed the maximum weight tolerance of the product. At this time, my bed has three known holes, all of which are repaired with the patch kits provided with the product.
My other chief complaint is that after long term usage, the bed does bow in the middle (which is where the manual suggests you sleep).
Overall, this product is just too susceptible to seam breakage due to everyday wear and tear. I also don't like having to stress over accidental punctures -- which hasn't happened yet -- and I could do better with something else.

Defective Reviewer: Patrick McCabe Sydney, Australia 01-21-2002 I think this bed would have been great ... except for the fact that it wouldn't stay inflated. The initial set-up was quick and I was quite happy with the firmness and the fact that it was the size/height of a normal bed. After a few hours the bed had noticeably deflated, not all the way, but enough that it was unusable. I checked for holes but couldn't find any. I inflated it fully, and a few hours later encountered the same problem. I contacted Aero and the person I spoke to suggested either of the 2 valves could be the cause, and that it wouldn't necessarily be obvious. The bed is also fairly heavy when deflated and as such wouldn't be as easily portable as I had imagined if traveling. I've read reviews for other models of the Aerobed on Epinions.com and they generally seem to be good. I'm returning the raised Aerobed and will be ordering one of their other models as a replacement.

Not Worth Buying! Reviewer: O. Bethea Landover, MD 11-21-2004 Almost immediately after purchase, the merchandise became defective--there were repeated "stress" holes along its seams. It definitely was not worth buying

Doesn't last Reviewer: Anonymous Los Angeles 12-31-2006 At first I was thrilled with the queen-sized aerobed. Then it started leaking--after only a few times of use. This would not have been so bad if the same people who sold the bed sold a patch kit (with instructions on how to repair). If you think you won't need this patch kit, just wait. Is there one I can get? If you know, please help--before this almost-new aierobed becomes a very expensive good will item.
