Pretty Good Reviewer: Anonymous 09-25-2004 This item was pretty good, for a while. It claimed that it does not affect the modem speed. However with my computer hooked up to it, (brand new Compaq w/AthlonXP and 56K) I am lucky to break 33.3! But when the line is connected directly to the computer, I am getting more reasonable 49.3 to 53.3 connections. Sometimes it will even totally mess up the internet, so even at a 32.3 speed nothing will happen. Sometimes it will not ring for an incoming call. The sounder is obviously not designed to be heard anywhere outside of the room where the device is.
Works Well Reviewer: Anonymous 02-21-2005 In general it works well. However one needs to be aware of the following. Your phone does not ring - the Switchboard rings, but it is very low in volume (you need to be sitting very close to the Swithboard - you will not hear it if the room you are in has a TV or radio playing or even in a quiet room if you are more than about 10 feet away). You must answer within or just slightly after the second ring - after that you will not be able to answer the phone call.
Very Happy Reviewer: Anonymous 09-22-2003 I have one of the first switchboards with a power adapter, so I don"t need batteries. After 15 seconds, it will cut you off the internet. I have no proplems at all and I don"t pay for a second phone line. I'm very happy with this device.
I Like It Reviewer: Anonymous 03-29-2004 I still have dial up service. This product let's me get incoming calls as long as you pick up on the first two rings. The only drawback is that sometimes it rings and there is no call. I like it & would recommend it.
