SESAME STREET: ZOE'S DANCE MOVES VIDEO
Description: Get ready to dance! It's a toe-tapping, finger-snapping good time when Paula Abdul gives Zoe her very first dance lesson! Soon, Sesame Street's favorite ballerina is learning how to step with pep in a ballet warm-up, get the beat in her feet from an African drum, be grand with her hands in an Asian dance, and just have fun with Zoe's own Silly Willy Nilly dance.

Educational and Fun! Reviewer: Greatwood Sugar Land, TX 02-07-2005 Zoe's Dance Moves is a great deal of fun! Paula Abdul leads Zoe, Elmo and a class of enthusiastic youngsters in learning dance styles from all over the world in a colorful and highly entertaining program! We picked this DVD up after watching a preview of it and it is one of my little one's favorites!! He is only 17 months old but loves watching Paula teaching Zoe all these incredible dance moves!! He hops up and down on the sofa and points his fingers and yells..Elmo! Zoe!! and squeals with glee! Although the video is designed for preschoolers..little ones under 2 seem to enjoy it as well!
Paula's infectious enthusiasm and energy make the program very entertaining! She should make more videos of this nature!! There is also a nice interview with Paula about her dance influences and early years studying dance! Very educational!
A great DVD and a great value!!

Alot of fun at the same time educational Reviewer: M. Weintraub 12-11-2004 This dvd is so cute. My husband and I bought this for our 16 month old daughter. The first time watching it she fell asleep (due to having not napped all day and being sick) and we actually continued to watch it. We loved it as well as our daughter who likes to watch it all of the time. Plus it is cultural (teaching all kind of dance styles from around the world), great energy, and teaches kids to move around and that they can have their own style of dance, as well as being able to be who they are at their own pace and time. Highly recommeded.

Fun for all ages Reviewer: S. March 11-07-2004 I recently bought Zoe's Dance Moves for my niece's 3rd birthday. She LOVES it. The different dances keep her attention and up and moving the whole time. The nice surprize is that my 7 year old niece who thinks she is too old for Sesame Street is mesmerized by it too. She dance right along with Paula and Zoe. It nice to have a DVD they can both agree on and are up dancing to vs. sitting and watching. And as always with Sesame Street the multi-ethnicity is great.

Entertaining but not as good as other Sesame St DVD's Reviewer: Jacqueline A Pitt Testa Culver City, CA 02-28-2004 It is great that dances from around the world are shown & the whole thing is very upbeat & "peppy", but the moves are shown very quickly and are much too difficult for little ones to follow. Zoes silly willy nilly dance is probably the highlight for so many youngsters mentioned because it is easy to do! If your little one has an interest in dance then maybe it would be a good buy. If not buy one with more of their favorite characters in that they can sing and dance along to.

Great DVD for kids Reviewer: Anonymous 02-02-2004 I think this is a fantastic DVD! My 2year old can watch it 3 times in a row and is learning all the dance moves. It is also very entertaining for adults as well. I love the fact that it exploress ALL cultures of dance. A definite keeper!

My 21 month old can't get enough of this video! Reviewer: Anonymous 01-03-2004 My 21 month old daughter loves this video! This is all she asks to see... We like that this video illustrates different cultural dances from around the world. The puppets for the Asian and African segments are pretty COOL too!

Keeps the Child entertained Reviewer: Anonymous 07-21-2003 My daughter (20 months) is so entertained by this DVD that I sometimes have to beg her to watch something else! It's great for the kids but it can get a little annoying for the adults. It does well teaching some dances, I too wish it had covered a couple more dances such as Latin/Bellydancing but overall it is a pretty good DVD.

Fun time with dance and culture Reviewer: karenalcan Fresno, CA 07-10-2003 I bought this video for my 18-month-old daughter because she loves Elmo and Zoe. I also like Paula Abdul and dance. We both have really enjoyed it. I like the exposure to all the different dance styles. I would have liked to have seen more Latin dance styles. I think she will gain more appreciation of the dancing as she grows up. Right now she really enjoys dancing with the kids. Don't miss gospel greats BeBe and CeCe singing during the final credits.

Excellent for a 4yo dance & music enthusiast! Reviewer: Anonymous 05-31-2003 Some of the people who are rating this video low seem to have very young kids. I think this video is better for the older crowd - 4 and 5 year olds, perhaps. It's actually got a lot of variety and switches back & forth between showing Paula and Zoe and then showing kids from various countries dancing in costumes and music that reflect their culture. It's more of an entertainment video than an exercise video - and my daughter tends to watch more than dance. However, she likes it better every time she watches it, and dances more each time. I love it and I love Paula, too! :)

Better for older kids Reviewer: Jeanette Ryan Woodinville, WA 05-31-2003 My daughter is a year old, loves Sesame Street. I bought this thinking it would be more of Elmo and Zoe but it was not. This is geared to kids starting at maybe 4, kids who are in dance class. Elmo has a very short roll in this and Zoe is only in it about half the time. The other half is showing different dance styles and where and how they originated. Not something a little one is too interested in.

A Little Dancer's Inspiration Reviewer: Kim Jackson Midwest 05-19-2003 My son loves this video. He loves music and dancing and instead of being frustrated by the complex moves, he is inspired. This seems to be preparing children for dance classes, with phrases like, "practice makes perfect". When the final dance scene starts my 3 year old gets his shoes on and runs to the lineoleum floor. No, it's not a typical muppet story but Zoe and Elmo do serve as a focal point for the voices and humor.

1yr old girl loves it Reviewer: Sarah C Chicago, IL 05-17-2003 Everytime my husband and I buy a new DVD for my daughter, be it Sesame Street or Barney or the Wiggles etc... I'm always afraid that my daugher will not like it. When we bought Zoe's Dance Moves, she didn't really like watching it at first because she was still attached to Sesame Street's,Kids' Favorite songs!! I thought, "Bummer, what a waste of money!". However, after the end of the Favorite Songs DVD, she wanted to watch it all over again and my husband and I were getting tremendously annoyed by the same songs playing over and over again so, I decided to play Zoe's Dance Moves right after and she has grown to love it!! She would bow when Zoe and Paula bows and she'd do the Silly-Willy-Nilly Dance and shake her head like Zoe too! She even tips her toes up when they do the ballet dance and bounce around to the rhythm of the African dance!!! And when I get up and dance along with her, she's ecstatic!! Yup, there are some clips in it that were produced earlier but hey! it's all worth it when you see your little one dance so enthusiastically ! Oh, and if you buy the DVD version, and find that your little one has short attention span, then select the PReview DVD's on the menu page and press enter on "preview all". There's a whole lot of DVD's by Sesame Street that have been clipped to a few minutes each and they're entertaining too!! My daughter loves watching the previews! You'll also get a feel of these other DVD's which can help you decide on what to get next!

Don't waste your money Reviewer: C. Montgomery Centerburg, OH 05-07-2003 I was really looking forward to getting this video for my 18 month old daughter. This is a child that will dance when commercials come on TV! However, I thought the dance moves were too difficult for toddler-to-preschool age children (even the kids in the video were older.) There also wasn't as much music in it as I would have thought. My daughter quickly lost interest. Also, I thought Paula Abdul just wasn't a good choice as hostess. Preschool dance teacher, she just isn't!!
The best part of the whole video (in my toddler's opinion) was the cartoon where the animated birds were dancing either fast or slow, depending on the rhythm. That lasted about 25 seconds, tops.
My advice is, save your hard-earned money for something your kids will really enjoy!

Not a toddler type movie Reviewer: Anonymous 05-24-2003 My 2 year old daughter loves Sesame Street but this movie shows very little of Sesame Street Charecters. Zoe and Paula dance a little then it shows other dance segments. I purchased this video because I thought it would be a Sesame Street video with Zoe in it. Instead it is just a dance video. We also have Get up and Dance with Big Bird which my daughter watches everyday because there is a character in the majority of the movie. I sure wish that you could return viewed movies because I would much rather get a different video that my daughter would actually enjoy.

Waste of money Reviewer: Anonymous 05-19-2003 I sincerely wish that I hadn't wasted my money. My 3 year old refuses to watch this video and I can't say that I blame her. The dance moves are too complicated for the targeted audience and in some cases the moves were down right innappropriate. I mean come on, was it really necessary to put Paula in a belly-baring shirt and have her swinging her hips around? I thought this was supposed to be a video for preschoolers? Sesame Street dropped the ball on this one. Not to mention Paula's voice grates on your nerves 10 minutes into the video. All that said, we'll stick with the other Sesame Street videos and toss this one out.

Zoe's Dance Moves needs more Elmo! Reviewer: Anonymous 05-12-2003 Not a hit with my 2 1/2 year old son. The only parts that grabbed his attention were when Elmo was on screen. Waste of money.

Good Video Reviewer: mlejano Centreville, VA 05-08-2003 My 18 month old daughter loved this video. It kept her attention the whole time! Mommy even liked it too, LOL! Overall Great Kids Video

Great Video Reviewer: Anonymous 05-02-2003 My 4 year old daughter and two year old son love to dance with 'Paula' and Zoe! I think that this is an excellent video!

Great exposure to the art of dance for my 1 year old! Reviewer: blakemgirl New York, NY 05-01-2003 April 1, 2003

I bought this for my daughter when she was 13 months old to add to the rest of her Sesame Street Collection. She loves this tape the best! Zoe and Elmo are great and Paula Abdul is tolerable, but the short acts and cartoons between the dance studio scenes are just as entertaining (there's one with a young Savion Glover).
The dances include ballet, African, Asian, tap, and hip hop, but her absolute favorite is Zoe's dance, the SILLY WILLY NILLY. Whenever she knows it's next in the sequence, she gets her arms ready and starts flailing them about like Zoe.
My husband enjoys watching it as well, so we make it a family dance lesson with the three of us. It's one of those videos where the parents really have to get into it with their child. If you're not excited about it, why should your child be too? It's easy for me, since I was a H.S/college cheerleader, but I could understand why some reviews haven't been as enthusiastic.
We highly recommend it to others who want their toddlers to learn about rhythm and movement. Obviously, they won't be able to get the choreography down pat, especially the hip hop, but at least they look cute trying!

I loved it Reviewer: Jordan Beverly Hills , CA 03-24-2003 OMG this is one of sesame streets greatest videos my 3 yr old girl loved it. my 11 yr older even enjoyed dancing with Paula! Paula and Zoe make a great team!! you should definitaly buy this video!

Not the best sesame street video Reviewer: Anonymous 03-10-2003 Both my 2 year old and I found this video paled next to the others in her sesame street collection. There wasn't enough variation in characters or plot and the dance step sequences were pretty complex for the targeted audience. We made it through the whole thing once but I'm guessing that will be the only time.

My 3 1/2 year old loves it! Reviewer: mominnj Washington Township, NJ 03-09-2003 I highly recommend this video. My 3 1/2 year old daughter loves. She can't exactly do all of the dance moves, but she jumps up and down and dances to it. She loves Zoe and Elmo too, so it's already a favorite.

My daughter loves it! Reviewer: Anonymous 03-06-2003 Just got this video and my 3 1/2 year old daughter absolutely loves it. While she can't exactly do all of the dance moves, she jumps around to the music. It's nice to see Zoe steppin' out! She loves Zoe and Elmo!
