Boring Videos Reviewer: Anonymous 08-23-2004 Everything you need to know about the Atkins program you can find for free on the web. I like the diet & it is working for me After 2 weeks I don't even crave carbs. But don't waste your money on theese boring videos.

It's A Scam Reviewer: Anonymous 06-23-2004 I feel that I have been taken by the Atkins Answer scam. After I received the product, I decided that it was not worth the money. I then sent the package back by certified mail (which cost me $12.00!) and to date I have not received a refund. I tried to contact shop america through it's bogas e-mail address that I was given when I contacted the atkins center and this company does not even have an account. The phone number of course is being checked for trouble. These people need to be found NOW! I WANT MY MONEY BACK. I have learned a valuable lesson and I will check for sights like this before I order anything else from an infomercial.

Felt Totally Cheated Reviewer: Anonymous 09-29-2003 After viewing the tapes that I received, I felt totally cheated. This product is not be any means the answer for people wanting to lose weight. Once you order the product you will never speak to a live person again. They give you the number to leave a messege and its been 2 months and no one has returned my 6 calls. We also have these recurring $29.95 charges on our billing statements. I am filing a claim against "The Atkins Answer" idiots and anyone involved in stealing our money.

A Waste of Money Reviewer: Anonymous 11-23-2003 After getting these tapes I realized that they were just an extension of the informercial that I saw on TV. I then returned them within the 60 day deadline, but I never got credited for the $100.00 that they charged. I have tried to contact the company but have had no luck.

Dangerous for Diabetics Reviewer: Anonymous 07-02-2003 My doctor told me I needed to lose some weight so I decided to order these tapes. I am diabetic, but never thought this plan would be bad for my health. After 3 days of following the diet exactly, I was getting diabetic attacks 3 times a day. I contacted my Doctor who told me to stop the diet immediately. I have sent back the tapes, but they have not returned my money.

Not enough info Reviewer: Anonymous 03-11-2000 I brought this video because I have a very busy schedule, so I thought I could save some time by watching the video for info on the Atkins Diet instead of reading the book. Well, I will not make that mistake again - it is not very informational, and after reading the book, I found the tapes didn't even do any of the explanations justice. The video was VERY basic, and if you wanted to understand the concepts of the diet, you still wouldn't after watching these tapes. You are much better off buying his books!

Don't Waste Your Money Reviewer: Anonymous 04-17-2000 I bought these videos thinking they would give me with information that was not in the book or even more suggestions, boy was I surprised. It was a very cheaply made video that didn't provide anymore information than the book. Actually, it was less information in these video, than in the book.
No matter how cheap you can get these videos, your best choice would be to get the book.

Does this Work? Reviewer: susie laroche Issaquah, Washington 07-28-2003 When I purchased the Atkins Weight Loss program, I was pretty excited and it sounded like I could learn all I needed to know from the two videos. What I soon learned is that this is not a one-size fits all plan. You have to know what to eat, what not to eat and get to some magical formula that will work for you. The secret is of course to limit your intake of carbs so you will start burning your stored fat for fuel.
Dr. Atkins says the low fat diet is the worst diet you can be on. If you look at how many carbs are in ?low fat? foods, you might start to agree.
So, is this diet easy to do or very difficult?
While watching the second video you work out how many grams of carbs you are consuming daily. My count was 221. Yikes. I had no idea.
The first day I was on this diet, I ate everything I was supposed to, I counted my carbs, I restricted my carbs, I ate protein. I got to my carb limit rather fast.
Breakfast: 2 eggs, 3 pieces bacon, tea with cream, vitamins. = 8 grams
Lunch: Tuna Salad with balsamic vinegar. = 8 grams
Dinner: Salmon, green beans, shallots, lemon juice, butter. = 4 grams
That was my 20 gram limit for the day. I was supposed to do the 20 grams a day for 14 days. Ok, I said, I did it on the first day.
Then the nightmare began. I started feeling so hungry, I made cookies. Then, I ate cookies. That was the start.
The next day, I felt like I could not get enough food. I literally was binging. I was horrified. This was not me. I've never done this. Normally I eat a doughnut here or there, but now I was craving potato chips, cookies, doughnuts, chocolate and just about every carb on the list.
Why did this happen?
I suspected that it might have something to do with a medication I'm taking to control blood sugar and I guess hypoglycemia can happen if you do not eat enough while on the medication. So, I really should have asked my doctor if it was ok to go on a diet. Before I take this diet as seriously, I'm going to ask my doctor if it can possibly work for me. So, think about this before you start this diet. DO talk to your doctor first.
I am not sure you should cut your carbs so fast. That was my conclusion. If you do, maybe you should be on some sort of hunger curbing pill. I think cutting them too fast is overly optimistic and might cause you to fail before you even get a chance to let this diet work.
I did reorganize my kitchen into low/med/high until I could figure out which was which. Basically, I learned what had high carbs, what had low carbs. To be honest, that was the most valuable lesson. I didn't realize that all the fruit juices I was drinking daily were loaded with carbs. While they said eggs were 0 carbs, I later found out they had 0.6 or 1 gram of carbs. The Dr. Atkins Carbohydrate Gram counter updated book is very helpful, but is not included with the tapes.
These videos are ok, but they have some errors in them. In one of the videos the phone number shown is not the same number you are told to call. Wonder how that happened? They got it right in the second video.
What was fascinating about the videos was how they showed how much sugar we all do consume each day. They literally poured sugar into a big bowl and that represented what most of us are eating daily. I agree, I've been eating too much sugar.
What this video also did was make me feel less guilty about eating foods with fat. Like you can have bacon with eggs or steak and don't worry, have the nice buttery sauce with those shrimp. But skip the toast, rolls, bread with protein.
Look, there is no perfect diet, but the truth is, you can learn something from each diet you try. Eventually something is going to work. Now I'm drinking seltzer water with lime/lemon slices instead of all the fruit juices. That cut my carbs considerably.
Now when I go to the grocery store, I look for the salad mixture without the carrots. I try not to eat as much yogurt as often or put milk in my tea. I also use stevia in all tea/coffee type drinks.
Putting all the no-no foods away didn't work for me. Completely restricting my carbs didn't work for me at first. I think that is something you should work towards more gradually.
Did I lose weight? Yes.
I lost three pounds in two weeks using the ideas in this video, but not following the plan as strictly at first. I'm working my way down to a level of carbs my body can handle instead of the other way around.
Things that helped me after seeing these videos:
Buying the Dr. Atkins Carbohydrate Gram Counter.
Buying low carb cookbooks.
Avoiding diet foods and reading all labels before buying anything at the store.
Not buying the high carbs to begin with. If they are not at home, you can't eat them. Right? Hey, it is a plan.
Now instead of a doughnut, I might reach for a piece of cheese without the crackers. I eat fruit instead of fruit juice, but keep fruit to a minimum and up the vegetables.
It is easy to start a diet and then give up. Taking what you can from any diet and making it part of your lifestyle might be the way to lose weight in the long run.
Now all I need is for my treadmill to get fixed this week. Walking 1 hour a day is my goal!

Easy Weightloss Reviewer: Kendra Australia 07-13-2001 I am writing this review with regards to anyone out there who has been on the weight loss program. I found the video's(4 in total) and Tapes (4 aswell) very tiresome to watch. With regards to the book, well that was more informative.
In total I have lost 20kg's over 19 weeks on this program without any trouble whatsoever. No hunger pangs or anything. So is this too good to be true ???

i lost my grandpa to this Reviewer: Anonymous 08-25-2006 my grandpa started taking on this diet when i was 4, not only 1 year later did he die, we miss him very much, he had a severe heart attack from all the fat clogging his ateries because of this diet... i wish atkins will just admit this is a scam and stop taking peoples lives
